Desired Outcomes

  1. Identify key artifacts that can impact ultrasound guidance for procedures.
  2. Use the “in plane” and “out of plane” approach.
  3. Acquire images in both sagittal and transverse scanning planes.
  4. Identify normal ultrasound landmarks for guiding central line placement and for guiding lumbar puncture.
  5. Identify the ultrasound findings of pleural effusion to guide thoracentesis.
  6. Identify the ultrasound findings of free fluid in the abdomen to guide paracentesis.
  7. Discriminate between endotracheal tube placement in the trachea and in the esophagus.
  8. Master ultrasound transducer sterile technique.

Instructions for participation

Each participant must watch all the video lessons, successfully pass all quizzes of this activity with a grade of 70% or higher and complete a post-evaluation form. Once completed, your certificate will be made available immediately for download. If you receive a score of 69% or less, you may retake the quiz until successful.
