  1. Provide initial ventilator settings for patients with acute respiratory failure
  2. Make adjustments to the settings based on the results of the arterial blood gas (ABG)
  3. Select the appropriate level of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) for patients with restrictive lung disease
  4. Recognize and treat air trapping (dynamic hyperinflation) in patients with obstructive airway disease
  5. Troubleshoot excessively high airway pressures
  6. Manage the patient on mechanical ventilation who abruptly deteriorates
  7. Assess a patient’s readiness for extubation

Instructions for participation

Each participant must watch all the video lessons, successfully pass all quizzes of this activity with a grade of 70% or higher and complete a post-evaluation form. Once completed, your certificate will be made available immediately for download. If you receive a score of 69% or less, you may retake the quiz until successful.
