- Confidently interpret troponin values in order to rule in or rule out myocardial infarction.
- Use natriuretic peptides, such as BNP and NT-proBNP, to diagnose heart failure.

- Recognize that neprilysin inhibitors interfere with BNP measurement.
- Identify patients with dyslipidemia and assess their cardiovascular risk.
- Describe the meaning of Lp(a) in cardiovascular risk prediction.
- Choose when to measure D-dimer and when not to measure D-dimer in the context of pulmonary embolism.
- Consider a patient’s age when interpreting D-dimer lab results.
- Avoid preanalytical errors in sample collection in order to make the right clinical decisions.
